Class sizes in K-3 are capped at 18 students and in grades 4-5 are approximately 25 students.
Jefferson Elementary School was awarded the 2013-2014 School of Promise by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). This is our 5th consecutive year of receiving this award. Our dedicated staff empowers our students to strive to meet their potential every day. They differentiate student need by implementing a diverse and comprehensive curriculum, preparing our students for the rigor of middle school, high school, and beyond.
Jefferson Elementary School was also recognized as a Sugar Maple school by the DPI and Green and Healthy Schools. We pride ourselves in creating safe learning environments and prepare students to understand, analyze, and address the major environmental and sustainability challenges now and in the future. Our Jefferson Garden is a focal point for community partnerships and learning.
Our Jefferson School community celebrates success with respectful, attentive, and responsible positive behavior. We are a Tier 1, 2, and 3 Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) site. We focus our efforts to support the learning of all students. With a belief that teamwork and collaboration has the power to reshape our relationships and lives, Jefferson Elementary School directly teaches positive behaviors and provides opportunities for our community to come together and support all students. In June 2013, Jefferson School was selected by the Wisconsin PBIS Network as a School of Distinction for the tremendous work accomplished through the implementation of (PBIS). In June 2014, we were selected as a PBIS School of Merit.
Throughout the year, our dedicated and exceptional staff members continually analyze student data to make informed instructional decisions that align with the state common core standards as well as the District’s Shared Key Interests. Teachers meet several times each week in grade level collaborative teams to focus on student work and receive professional development aimed at increasing student achievement. This collaboration is teacher led and strengthens our community commitment to increase student achievement.
We envision Thomas Jefferson Elementary to be a professional learning community where all individuals, students, staff, and families, strive to meet high expectations and feel safe and accepted.
